Star Tom Holland as Spider-Man on the poster for the third film in his superhero trilogy, “Spider-Man: No Way Home.”

Becoming the first film to gross north of one billion dollars since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, “Spider-Man: No Way Home” brings Tom Holland’s trilogy portrayal of the iconic superhero to a close. 2021’s biggest film inspires the FSView’s arts & culture team to share their reviews and experiences with the MCU’s latest installment.

Kenneth Northerner: In my opinion, “Spider-Man: No Way Home” is the best Marvel movie to date that reaches the widest demographic ever in comic book history. Through its integration of past, present and future Marvel is able to tell stories never before seen in the superhero realm of cinema. This movie is further proof that while Disney and Marvel clearly care about the younger demographic and the next generation of fans, they still have not forgotten the ones who have grown up with and propelled these movies to the forefront of pop culture.

Bryan Herrera: “Spider-Man: No Way Home” was everything I wanted as a childhood Spidey fan. It is a love letter to longtime fans of the movies, comics and the character himself. Somehow managing to balance its intricate plot, emotional moments, comedic dialogue and total fan service while still having consistent and underlying themes and meanings. Not to mention impressive acting performances and production all around. “No Way Home” was definitely the most fun I’ve had in a movie theater for a long time, and one of my favorite films to come out in 2021.

Gianna Formica: “Spider-Man: No Way Home” brought the multiverse full circle. It is no surprise that Tom Holland was enthralling on screen. In the face of difficulty, his character displays courage and perseverance while maintaining the audience’s beloved naive optimism we have come to associate with Holland’s portrayal of Spider-Man.

James Barberis: As an avid fan of Spider-Man and the MCU in general, “Spider-Man: No Way Home” was simultaneously the film I was most anticipated and was most scared to see when it released in December. My expectations were monstrously high and to say they were exceeded by the final product would be the understatement of the century. “No Way Home” encapsulates the full scope of what the character of Spider-Man is truly about: heart, humor and most importantly, responsibility. From a stellar lead performance from the definitive Spider-Man himself Tom Holland to a number of memorable returns to form from some of the greatest Spider-Man characters of old, “No Way Home” emphatically reminded audiences why the red-and-blue webslinger continues to be the most popular and beloved superhero on the planet.

Benny Taubman: “Spider-Man: No Way Home” is the most overrated movie of the year. An abundance of fan service is lazily substituted for the qualities that actually make a movie entertaining and enjoyable. Can’t say I was impressed. 1/5 stars.

Morgan Marisa: This film made me cry at least six separate times. I think it brought back the feeling I had as a kid watching the older films because Tom Holland really stepped into the role in this movie and felt the true weight of being Spider-Man. The cast was wonderful and the writing was funny. There were a couple of details I questioned, but overall, it did not disappoint. It was a nice reminder of why I love the character and the power of movies in general. I am actually about to go see it again right now.
