The unprecedented times of COVID-19 have brought down a lot of business; and the art, culture and creative industries weren’t left behind. Rather, it was one of the growing sectors in the global economy, until the contagion. The industry has seen a huge blow ever since.
However, to boost the spirit back and for better economic recovery, Culture Summit Abu Dhabi 2021 is taking place in the city from March 8 to March 10, 2021.
As many activities and lifestyles have gone digital, this year, the Culture Summit will focus on more adaptable, resilient and collaborative approaches to building and sustaining cultural and creative ecosystems.
To realise these opportunities like wider public good in addressing inequity, promoting social enclosure, nurturing cultural diversity and advancing sustainable development, the Culture Summit Abu Dhabi 2021 will take place, however, this year, the event will go virtual.
In the fourth year of the summit, the event is said to explore the challenges and opportunities associated with building these ecosystems and the benefits they can deliver around the world. Led by Summit partner the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), this year’s theme will be International Year of Creative Economy for Sustainable Development, 2021.
Some of the topics like ‘What is the post-covid cultural economy?’, ‘How does mass migration impact the cultural economy?’, ‘Can the cultural economy tackle global inequality,’ ‘Why do we focus on artists and the digital technology for the development of a creative economy, ‘What role can the cultural economy and the culture and creative industries play in urban recovery and resilience,’ will be explored during the conference.
Additionally, a curated selection of artist talks, film screenings and performances will also take place during the Summit.
