Kennedy Center quietly ditches its ‘Russian Lounge’

The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts last week quietly renamed its “Russian Lounge” — a room featuring the country’s art and culture paid for by one of its richest men, Vladimir Potanin — amid a backlash against Russia since the invasion of Ukraine.

In 2011, Potanin donated $5 million to the Kennedy Center. He paid to remodel the existing “Golden Circles Lounge” to create a meeting room reflecting the aesthetic of his native country. It included two new pieces of art commissioned by famed Russian artist Valery Koshlyakov.

FAU Center for Body, Mind, and Culture Partners with Krakow Academy of Fine Arts

Newswise — Florida Atlantic University’s Center for Body, Mind, and Culture within the Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters is an interdisciplinary initiative dedicated to promoting research, programming and teaching of topics concerning the body-mind-culture nexus. Researchers from the center recently partnered with the Krakow Academy of Fine Arts in Poland to launch a new “Center for Somaesthetics and the Arts,” dedicated to joint scholarly research and creative programs. New Art Center welcomes Lunar New Year with crafts and performances

About 150 people came to the event to celebrate the Year of the Tiger — a Chinese zodiac symbol — on the sixth day of the 15-day spring festival.

Aiken Chapter of the Links presents donation to African American center | Local News

A local Black organization made a donation to Aiken’s Center for African American History, Art and Culture.

The Southern Area of The Links Inc. donated a check, which was conveyed to the center through its Aiken chapter. During its Southern Area Christmas Donation Blitz in December 2021, the CAAHAC was selected as the recipient of the $1,500 donation.
