Dona Ana Arts Council showcases Border Artists Dec. 3-29 in Las Cruces

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The Doña Ana Arts Council will showcase The Border Artists in Blue Skies Dec 3-29, 2021. Patrons will see art representing a diversity of materials, narratives, perspectives, and experiences reaching beyond the challenges of 2020. 

The Border Artists organization was formed in the late 1980s to increase visibility and recognition for artists in southern New Mexico. Finding much success, the group continued to add members with diverse backgrounds and organized as a non-profit association in 1995. All members are residents of New Mexico and El Paso, and they exhibit locally and nationally in juried shows.

The Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs announces FY22 grant awards

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) —  The Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs (MCACA) has delivered a total of $10,739,823 million in grants to 507 applicants for arts and culture projects in Michigan.

The Grants were awarded to Michigan organizations in 60 counties.

Local recipients and their awarded grants:

-Ingham County – $820,606 in grants with $82,500 for the Williamston Theatre

-Jackson – $157,000

-Eaton County – $51,250

-Clinton County – $13,750

-Hillsdale – $6,413

ARTS AND CULTURE: Ironton Council for the Arts: Cypress to perform at First Presbyterian Church – The Tribune

After over a year absence due to COVID-19, the Ironton Council for the Arts will open its 2021-22 Subscription Concert Series with Cypress, an Appalachian folk/indie trio at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 16 at the First Presbyterian Church of Ironton. They replace the Appalachian Celtic Consort who were forced to cancel their performance due to the illness of several band members.

Portland Arts Council votes not to restore Washington, Lincoln statues toppled in 2020 riots

The Regional Arts & Culture Council Board of Directors endorsed a recommendation Wednesday that toppled and removed monuments not be returned to their previous locations and to inform the city of Portland, Oregon.

The statues include: George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt: Rough Rider, Harvey Scott, and Promised Land. City officials have decided that Elk will return to downtown Portland.
