Kashmiri ‘Paper Mache’ artist Shafiya Shafi is reviving and preserving Kashmiri culture and heritage by her art. 26-12 months-outdated Shafiya Shafi from the Lal Bazar region of Srinagar begun the revival of the age-outdated art form by making attractive objects to bring in the new era to the Kashmiri art type. Paper Mache is a combination of craft and fantastic artwork from the Kashmir Valley. It is an artwork sort that is not only well-liked in Kashmir but also has a large demand from customers globally.
Speaking to ANI, Shafiya Shafi stated, “Kashmiri pottery and art type is dying. This is my initiative to preserve the Kashmiri artwork for upcoming generations.”
According to her, by means of this art kind, she expresses herself and also ordeals a type of mental peace when accomplishing it.
Shafi, who has self-taught herself in ‘Paper Mache’ reported, “I have self-taught my-self and not pursued any program in it. What ever I am carrying out today, I have learnt and completed it myself. I experiment a ton.”
Shafi posted a few Paper Mache artwork on social media and been given an overpowering response. She is now receiving recognised at the national and international level for the ‘Paper Mache’ art.

“I considered the art would die as the artisans stopped culturing the artwork form as they would not get very good wages. It is superior that she took up this art and revived it,” reported Fahad Idrees, a visitor.
