Let’s face it. Boca parents are pretty desperate for things to do with their kids outside of the house right now. Whether you have a toddler or a teenager, we’re all getting to the point during this pandemic where we HAVE to leave the four walls we’ve been staring at (for the sake of our sanity) and seek out some fresh South Florida scenery.
It’s important to note that family events are extremely limited right now due to COVID-19. However, I’ve found a few good options in Palm Beach County that should keep every member of your family entertained.
Here are three unique and safe ways to enjoy February locally with your Boca kids!
Drive-in Laser Light Show at the South Florida Fairgrounds | February 11-14
Load everyone into your oversized SUV and head to the South Florida Fairgrounds February 11-14th for a one-of-a-kind drive-in laser light show! Cabin Fever presents The Drive-in Laser Light Show features two performances each night at 7:00 and 9:00 p.m. Each show is family-friendly and includes the latest musical hits and fantastic graphic effects. Plus, what a unique way to spend Valentine’s Day?
Every vehicle space has a dedicated tail-gate seating area, so be sure to bring chairs, blankets and refreshments. The Drive-in Laser Light Show is only here for one weekend, so be sure to get your tickets before they sell out!

If your child, age 5+, happens to be art obsessed, then this FREE local class is for them! SmART (Saturday Morning Art) is returning to in-person instruction on Saturday, February 6th at the Boca Museum Art School. This program is offered once per month to families and encourages students to link making art with learning about it. February’s focus is: Wonderful Watercolors.
And as an added bonus, PNC Bank is sponsoring free admission to the Boca Museum of Art for the public on the same day! Head to the museum and also be sure to check out the beautiful new mural gracing the stage at the Mizner Park Amphitheater.
Screen on the Green, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker | February 12
‘Tis the season for outdoor family movies like Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker on Friday, February 12th at 7:00 p.m. in West Palm Beach! While Screen on the Green typically takes place on the Great Lawn, a temporary Meyer Amphitheatre setup for movies will allow for more efficient enforcement of COVID-19 precautions.
Precautions include designated pods to social distance guests, maintaining a capacity of 50 percent or less, hand sanitizing stations throughout the venue and frequent cleaning of high-touch surfaces. Each pod can accommodate up to four guests, and masks must be work when guests are not in their designated pod. Let’s revamp fun in ’21!
