New report says Maine’s film industry generates millions

Movie advocates say if the state offered incentives, that quantity could improve noticeably.

MAINE, United states — When folks hear that a film is going to be shot in their town, they virtually often get excited. The Maine Film Association would like that emotion to be felt far more generally, not just simply because it is fun but due to the fact it generates income that can ripple throughout the point out.

How much cash? Which is the question that a new report from the Maine Movie Association addresses. Compiled by Todd Gabe, a professor of economics at the College of Maine, the study “found that the Maine film and video clip production industry has a direct [annual] economic impact of $29.25 million in revenue, supports 312 comprehensive- and part-time jobs, and generates $16.1 million in direct labor cash flow,” an MFA information release says.

The Maine Film Association believes that if the state authorities were being to offer some modest fiscal incentives, motion picture and video clip creation would grow briskly.
