SIMEK a.k.a. Christos Tzaferos (born in 1985), is a visual artist and graphic designer based in Athens, Greece.
SIMEK’s work is characterised by an interest in geometry, lines, parallel lines, circles, shapes, negative spaces, patterns, and glitches. It includes public and interior murals, paintings on canvas, paper, and wood, metalwork, interior design and installations. SIMEK’s work is almost always shaped by the architecture and material of the display space. He often works in black and white and with the natural color of the material and/or surface, but he also enjoys working in color. His pieces combine geometry, abstract art, architecture, graphic design to create geometric compositions, patterns, and motifs.
He has been experimenting with graffiti & street art since the beginning of 2000. Studied Graphic Design at the School of Graphic Design in Athens. Took up painting and photography in 2009 while working as a freelance graphic designer. SIMEK’s creativity stems from modern & traditional architecture. His work has been shown in numerous exhibitions not only in Greece, but also in Larnaca(Cyprus), Munich(Germany) & Brussels(Belgium).
Several of his murals can be viewed–if you know where to look–in streets and abandoned spaces.
