Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum pays visit to Art Dubai 2021

One of the Middle East’s prominent art fair –Art Dubai 2021 reopened with much enthusiasm and excitement on March 29. While it has been a difficult year for all due to the COVID-19 pandemic, hosting a physical exhibition was a great deal, especially for the artists who had been eager to showcase their work.

With all the strict safety measures, the gates opened to the visitors on March 29 to bask into some of the world’s creative work under one roof. While many art fanatics have been making a beeline to experience these art, Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, too, couldn’t stop herself from getting a glimpse of these beautiful artworks in person.

Chairperson of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), Sheikha Latifa graced the event on Tuesday to cheer up the participants and along with enjoying some artwork.

Sheikha Latifa toured the art fair’s custom-built venue at the Gate Building in Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), wherein 50 leading contemporary and modern galleries from 31 countries have been featured this year.

She emphasised Emirati’s global position in the field of art and creative industry and Art Dubai’s accomplishment with her visit. “As the first international art fair to return in its physical format from Dubai, the fair is an example of the Emirate’s position as a regional & global centre for culture & creative industries. Congratulations @artdubai for organising this exceptional edition and for your perseverance in continuing to support the sector in the most difficult of times. I invite you all to visit the 14th edition of Art Dubai & experience the beauty of art in a time when it is much needed and appreciated” read her Tweet.

With a particular focus on artists from the Middle East and the Global South, the 14th edition of Art Dubai showcases a varied selection of artworks, artists, and practices, reflecting the multicultural nature of Dubai. All of the fair’s gallery as well as its curated large-scale sculpture park speaks highly of Dubai art culture.

Echoing the thoughts of the art fair, Sheikha Latifa shared the importance of Art Dubai for the Emirate’s cultural sector. Art Dubai is one of the first international art fairs to return in a physical format globally post the worldwide lockdown. It is because of the new hybrid model that made it feasible for physical on-site presence alongside a digital experience, allowing engagement with both visitors and gallerists who could not attend physically.
